Centrally-approved enterprises

Central approval Gives the company a quality stamp. With central approval, one shows that the company has expertise, experience and systems that are tailored to the activities the company performs in the construction industry. From 1 January 2016, requirements were introduced for the seriousness of enterprises applying for central approval. An enterprise that is centrally approved under the new serial conditions shows that • Has the right competence to perform assignments in construction matters • meets the statutory requirements for operation • have paid taxes and fees Central approval is granted only to enterprises, including agencies and other public bodies, to be approved for liability. The company must be registered in the Register of Business Enterprises and the Value Added Tax Register. Companies from another EEA State that are not registered in the Register of Business Enterprises or from a country covered by the WTO Agreement must prove that they are registered in a corresponding enterprise register or trade register in an EEA State. The Building Quality Directorate manages the Central Approval Scheme and processes applications for central approval, renewal and withdrawal of central approval. The Directorate also supervises centrally-approved entities to ensure that they meet the requirements of the Planning and Building Act. Central approval lasts for three years and may be renewed if the entity can prove that it still meets the terms of approval.
